(ECNS) — Some Chinese tourists injured in a recent traffic accident in Bali have returned to China for further medical treatment, according to the Chinese Consulate General in Denpasar. Local police in Indonesia's Bali Province have launched an investigation into the incident.
The accident occurred in the early hours of Nov. 14 in Buleleng, northern Bali, when a vehicle carrying 13 Chinese tourists crashed, leaving five dead and eight injured.
Following the incident, the consulate activated its emergency response mechanism, coordinated medical assistance with local authorities, arranged translation support, and facilitated contact with the victims' families and relevant departments in China.
Injured passengers were later transferred to a hospital in Denpasar, where consular staff and local Chinese community volunteers provided ongoing support.
Chinese Consul General Zhang Zhisheng visited the injured tourists on Nov. 15 to convey condolences for the deceased and extend sympathies to those wounded.
The consulate said it has been working with airlines to arrange the early return of injured travelers. Families of the victims have also arrived in Bali with the assistance of Chinese authorities.
The consulate said it will continue to monitor the treatment of the injured and assist with follow-up matters for the deceased.
