On January 5, 2026, the Asian Americans for Good Government Political Action Committee (AAGG-PAC), together with leaders of the Asian Pacific American Public Affairs (APAPA), hosted a fundraising dinner at Yin Ranch in Vacaville in support of California Attorney General Rob Bonta’s 2026 re-election campaign. The event brought together more than 200 representatives from the Asian American community, business sector, and legal field, reflecting the growing role of Asian Americans in California politics.

Bonta, the first Filipino American to serve as California Attorney General, has emphasized equal justice and social equity since taking office in 2021. His administration has promoted reforms in anti-discrimination enforcement, environmental justice, and consumer protection. In response to the rise in anti-Asian hate incidents in the post-pandemic period, Bonta established a task force dedicated to investigating hate crimes against Asian communities. In his re-election bid, he continues to focus on judicial fairness, criminal justice reform, and the protection of vulnerable populations.

AAGG-PAC Chair Hui Ju noted that Asian Americans account for more than 15% of California’s population, yet their political participation has not always matched their demographic presence. He said the community’s support for Bonta recognizes his record on Asian American issues and reflects a growing willingness to engage more actively in state-level decision-making.

The evening included a VIP reception, a general networking session, and a formal dinner program. The event was held at Yin Ranch, owned by Asian American community leader CC Yin and planned for future donation to APAPA. Co-host Regina Yin said Asian Americans are integral to California’s development and that supporting public officials who value Asian American concerns is essential to ensuring the community’s voice is heard.

In his keynote address, Bonta highlighted issues of particular concern to Asian American communities. He emphasized that California’s justice system must respond to the needs of its diverse population and described anti-Asian hate crimes as both legal and social challenges. He pledged to continue strengthening law enforcement efforts while expanding anti-discrimination education. Bonta also discussed cross-border trade regulations, legal protections for small and medium-sized enterprises, and emerging legal issues related to artificial intelligence, noting the importance of collaboration between justice agencies and regulatory bodies.

Business leaders, including those involved in cross-border trade such as wine exports and Asian specialty products, expressed hope that a second Bonta term would further improve California’s business legal environment by streamlining regulatory processes and strengthening intellectual property protection. A representative from California Northstate University said the strong Asian American support for Bonta reflects California’s increasing focus on minority rights and the community’s transition from economic participation to deeper political engagement.

Organizers said the fundraising exceeded expectations, and Bonta’s campaign team indicated that community feedback collected during the event would be incorporated into future policy planning. Beyond fundraising, the dinner served as a platform for dialogue between Asian American communities and California’s justice system.
